Beef Stroganoff

Savory Beef Stroganoff:

  • 1.5 pounds (680g) beef sirloin, cut into thin strips
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 8 ounces (225g) mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Cooked egg noodles or rice, for serving

  1. Season the beef strips with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the beef strips to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the beef from the skillet and set it aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant.
  5. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they release their moisture and become golden brown.
  6. Sprinkle the flour over the onions and mushrooms, and stir to coat them evenly.
  7. Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming.
  8. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  9. Return the cooked beef strips to the skillet and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  10. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the sour cream and Dijon mustard. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  11. Season the Beef Stroganoff with salt and pepper to taste.
  12. Serve the Beef Stroganoff over cooked egg noodles or rice.
  13. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley for added flavor and visual appeal.
