Savory Beef Stroganoff:
Ingredients:
- 1.5 pounds (680g) beef sirloin, cut into thin strips
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 8 ounces (225g) mushrooms, sliced
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Cooked egg noodles or rice, for serving
Instructions:
- Season the beef strips with salt and pepper.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Add the beef strips to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the beef from the skillet and set it aside.
- In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant.
- Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they release their moisture and become golden brown.
- Sprinkle the flour over the onions and mushrooms, and stir to coat them evenly.
- Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming.
- Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Return the cooked beef strips to the skillet and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Reduce the heat to low and stir in the sour cream and Dijon mustard. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Season the Beef Stroganoff with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the Beef Stroganoff over cooked egg noodles or rice.
- Garnish with fresh chopped parsley for added flavor and visual appeal.
